I mean… there is a small part of DC that is a hell hole… y’all know where I’m talking about, the place where people in suits gather. And some weird house with an oddly-shaped office

There’s also a LOT of child marriage due to “religious reasons” in rural areas, in places where they’re now rolling back child labor laws as well.

Recently, some idiot had a demo on how the cop put his knee on George Floyd. Now his knee was right between the shoulder blades. I stated…ugh it was on his neck!

Multiple MAGAts responded…“no it wasn’t!”, “The knee wasn’t on the neck though!”

So I found a picture. A few of them deleted their comments but others still don’t believe it…“You can make a picture of anything”

Like dude, we all saw it…wtf. The MAGA brain rot is real.

I engage with these people a lot and they just deny and say the strangest things as a response.
“Oh yeah, who started the war then! How dare Trump try and save Ukraine and Russian lives”

I’ve given up. When I realize I’m talking to a MAGAt, just disengage as gracefully as possible. If I can’t get away, try and change the subject. If it’s in a group setting, I might slap a fact-dick on the table once to make a point of opposition as a signal to the group.

      In real life?

Russia invaded Ukraine after annexing Crimea. Russia stole Ukraine land and then invaded what was left.

      Then, walk away.

      Online?

Russia invaded Ukraine after annexing Crimea and then provide links.

This isn’t for the online person, but for people that come after. Don’t comment any further.

It’s a distinction that becomes meaningless when ALL headlines talk about “illegals” and spread lies like “illegals voting” and when they deport plenty of migrants, legal or not. And fire the populace up against ALL migrants. Sorry, there’s no legal resp illegal xenophobia, it’s just xenophobia.

The first one is very disagreeable, DC has a nicer transit system than all except for like 2 cities in the US.

Regarding Ukraine, they’re one of 3 parties that can stop the war and could have done so at any point since the 2014 coup put them on track for this.

But have a talk with any republican about immigrants, 99% think immigrants are stealing SS, doing crime, taking all the jobs, causing poverty, and increasing healthcare costs.

So you’re saying that anyone ever who is bullied, has the power to stop it anytime??? Murdering the bully may be a solution, but suicide sure the hell is not. What other solutions do you think Ukraine has available to it, you soft skulled, smooth brained, soul-less imbecile?

Agree to Russia’s offer that would have Ukraine take back a fraction of its lost territory while Russia keeps the Russian-speaking territory. Maybe even require each state hold a UN-monitored referendum on who to join.

Its awful if you care about states, but immediate peace is the best option for the people actually living there.

So attacking Ukraine, taking Crimea and other parts of Ukraine, waging a war against civilians, bombing cities and the people there, abducting children, torturing prisoners of war, etc. would basically be rewarded by granting them a part of the conquered territory and leaving them off the hook for all the atrocities they’d committed?
            Russia didn’t honor the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budapest_Memorandum.
They need to pay - for all of it and big time.
I can understand why Ukraine doesn’t roll over. The likely price for immediate peace would just be higher than the price of continuing the war and defending themselves.
Why should Russia be believed to honor any agreement, if they didn’t honor the Budapes Memorandum? How long until another attack by Russia would happen?

Peace only works, if all parties involved are interested in that.
If less than all are interested in that, these are the ones at the short end of the stick who get crushed down by the bullies over and over and over…

Russia’s calculus to invade Ukraine was based off the assumption that they could win in a few days if they invaded, and if they didn’t invade, they would have a hostile, NATO-backed state on their border.

The first has proven hilariously wrong, and the second is only possible if Ukraine remains a buffer.

Given that Russia was selling 10y bonds at 17% and wages were skyrocketing due to the war industry tightening the labor market, I’m genuinely quite curious what the local political ramifications will be when Putin doesn’t have a war to distract everyone, his fellow billionaires want to cut wages, and loans start to come due.

Great, now spread it on actual right-wing sites and social media and not just places like Lemmy for upvotes from the 99.9999% of people here who would agree with you.

edit: apparently some of the 99.9999% really rather masturbate to this content than even hear the mild suggestion that it can be weaponized for good. I am genuinely a LITTLE surprised how much it triggers some people to suggest leaving a safe-space and actually putting yourself at risk of humiliation and gasp downvotes from strangers, but really, this is a fine image-thing, now lets use it where it matters. These sites and communities should be our staging areas for waging war. Not a place to suck each other off for having the same opinions, or worse, infighting with your allies.
