If full time Walmart employees need government assistance programs to afford food and pay their rent, is it not Walmart who is leaning on government assistance?

  • Don’t get me wrong, language war is a thing, especially from liberal and fascist media. I just think making a case for a deeply held belief in a word to be wrong is unhelpful to just advocating for things they like. It’s scholarly or long-form discussions where it makes sense to dispell that, but with media existing entirely in soundbites of their choosing I don’t think it’s the best way to move the needle towards results to also have to fight a bunch of unfounded fear.

I agree in parts. Free-market capitalism is like a plague because of all of the corruption it brings leading to the even worse version, which is subsidies to the rich and bootstraps to the rest, but I think it would be naive to think internal billionaire pay to play schemes are not possible coming from other nations where we have less control too. It would be better to target the obscene elements and create laws and structure directly into the constitution about what the meaning of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness mean for citizens and that it specifically doesn’t mean businesses or entities other than living humans on the land.

The meaning of “literally” now includes “Used non-literally as an intensifier for figurative statements: virtually (often considered incorrect; see usage notes).” And “Used as an intensive before a figurative expression.”

I think fighting language changes is a bit like standing firm against an avalanche. Ultimately if you want to communicate with people you’ve gotta speak their language.

Left and right wing are terms that mean different things different place. I would be fine taking on those names, but of course then amonsgst the electorate we would be taking on the minority position in what people call themselves and each other. Language is free to change anywhere for any reason, you’ve gotta meet people at their level in their language, or at least be able to bridge the gap.

  • I think it largely depends on the hobby and how general you want to be about it. I was talking with my wife about this a few years ago and we came to the conclusion that I had a lot of examples of my dad finding solutions to obstacles on his own to where I feel like I can solve almost any issue solo, it’s just a matter of how much time and resources do I have to give. Her upbringing was that a service had to be called and a temporary solution put in place. The temporary solution worked but was miserable in the meantime. Also she wasn’t part of the temp or permanent solution whereas I was “holding the flashlight”.

It’s also interesting because my sister experienced the same examples as me, but because I was here and willing she kinda just lets me be dad in fixing situations now. I think there’s an eagerness that men bring with often misguided confidence until they do it enough to get good and my wife would say she wants something to be easy from the beginning before she’ll confidently take on the task without me. This is going to be very different couple to couple though, since I can recall a lot of men who act helpless about problems within my ability to control. Often their wives take on that role instead and they seek women who do that sorta stuff because it’s a great team dynamic.

Probably rambling too much for the TLDR to be, “it depends” my bad

  • The head of the DNC is not remotely as powerful as Jeffries as speaker of the house or Schumer as majority leader. Not sure where you’re getting the impression that Mamdani was being stumped for by the party leaders as it existed. The only thing I agree with here is that even the leaders are not “the party” because the voters are, much to the dismay of zionist democrats.
