It’s not a question of being visible in public, it’s just a question of proportion. Hollywood seems to need gays and lesbians in every movie now. Is it marketing to attract “minorities” ?

Let me repeat myself: there is no such thing as “overrepresentation”. There isn’t, and shouldn’t be, a moral or legal law that states that TV and movie producers have to follow census data strictly in their casting. That would be stupid.
It seems to me that films are supposed to be as close to reality as possible to be credible.
