Ah. This makes me feel very validated after observing some really questionable takes and obvious mod bias on their Ask Lemmy.
I got banned from there because I commented on a thread asking about Cuba. I’ve actually been there in 2019 and in 2023 and my firsthand account (as well as a story a local told me) received heavy criticism and it was removed by the moderators. I didn’t even say anything controversial, just that the food options were limited, there was not a lot of protein, and some first hand accounts from my bus driver of the 2021 riots and protests.
This was enough to be removed and banned. I got called a fascist :)
I’ve managed it on a few different accounts now.
The only instance that I’m banned on (at least as far as I’m aware of, I don’t think you actually get notifications for that so maybe there’s more I don’t know about) I just asked an admin of if I could request a ban, where does that fit?
