  • I’ve been trying to do what I can in this time, online and IRL. It is really disorienting living in this nation, not knowing what’s working or what’s not; or what the situation is going to look like in a week or two. So many assumptions that I had of basic protections and securities are just Gone. I genuinely do not recognize or understand the people or systems around me anymore.

At least if we’re doing something it’s changing the scenario. It’s not like things could get much worse. “rather live two days like a tiger, than two hundred years like a sheep” ~Tipu Sultan

  • I’ll confess this was me and now is me. Trump got elected when I was middle school-aged. I really, really believed that was the low point, and for the rest of my life, the USA would get better. I believed the USA population was just ill-informed, and I did not expect this global rise of fascism and digital surveillance. I assumed people would never vote to strip away freedoms if they knew that was going to happen. I assumed the internet would always stay anonymous, and always be a free space.

Obviously there was an immense amount I did not know about. I had heard of the Trail of Tears and Slavery and the Civil War, but I didn’t grasp institutionalized racism beyond police brutality; didn’t realize the Left was losing the internet, didn’t recognize the danger of the manosphere; didn’t understand how wide-spread the propaganda campaigns were, didn’t grasp that billionaires and centi-millionaires would want fascism, and would enact it across the Western world.

When Kamala announced her campaign, I deemed her president. Every step of that campaign, as the Republicans careened more extremist-right I became more certain that even their party members would deem them insane. I knew people were struggling financially under Biden, but, that guy’s holding signs reading “MASS DEPORTATIONS”, has two moronic side-kicks (Musk and Vance), and his term was filled with economic hardship. Also, Jan 6th, 2021.

In hindsight I’m ashamed of my naive optimism. I’d beat myself up for it more, if I wasn’t living in the middle of my personalized hell.

  • The USA and one of China/Russia alone could destroy the world. The USA already ravaged Latin and South America, and the Middle East; and the combined military-industry power of either pair would easily be able to occupy most other nations simultaneously. Britain, Hungary, Israel and Germany are just along for the ride. Those four are as meaningless in the international scene as every other nation that may stand against the Fascists. USA/China/Russia are the three powerhouses.

This is Russia and China’s cold war, won. They convinced the United States to join them in international terrorism, and no one ever came close to the power of that trifecta. The United Nations has no army. The European Union’s Defense Forces is the closest thing the free world has to a resistance. I’m typing this but only partially registering how fucked we are. The USA, for all it’s horrible acts, had the “defender of democracy” title for a reason – because the Free World depended on the perception that the USA would go to war to stop China and Russia attempting world domination. As faith in the USA drops, and these fascist alliances grow, I see no reason to believe there’s ever going to be a comeback. If anything, I foresee more nations embracing the USA-China-Russia team to preserve some of their existence – not that it’s excusable.

We had the internet. We had free travel. We were making strides in medicine and technology. And How did we lose? Because corporations run the USA, and the USA ran the Free World. Corpos would kill 7 billion people if they had reason to believe the reward of profit outweighed the risk of financial hardship. Fascism is the natural evolution of a corporate state.

USAmerica wanted a President that ran the country like a business; and we got what we asked for. Promises made; Promises kept.

  • Stanford Prison Experiment. Slavery. Lynch mobs. Segregationists. Anti-Feminists. Prison-Industrial Complex. The majority of the country voting for the leader passing out signs that said “MASS DEPORTATIONS”. Maybe there’s some inherent cruelty to the mainland USA. Maybe there’s still too much lead particles in the air. As someone who has never left the mainland, I’ve seen overwhelming evidence to the “non-empathetic” side. Or, perhaps, the majority of people are passive, and cruelty is most capable of spurring people to action.

  • See I hard coped the “Believe that most people are good” thing, and then I saw numerical data that proves that most people (in the USA), in fact, not only want me to die; but hate most people not like them enough to support a sleazy dictator wanna-be and support a fascist regime, just to destroy the lives of other people who they see as “competition” or “lesser” or “undesirables”.
