What is this meme even trying to say?
As a person looking at the US from the outside, this is my take:
A common argument for the existence of the second amendment that I’ve read is “it’s hard to oppress a well-armed population”, with which I (somewhat) agree. Of course, many proponents of the 2A are right-wing, but - if you believed what they claimed their beliefs were - you would still expect them to use the 2A when the case they made in their argument occurs.
This meme is mocking US leftists who honestly believed in republican values and are now shocked when finding out what 2A people are really about.
Pretty much no one on the left thought the gun toting republicans would use their guns to stand up to a right wing authoritarian. They were the right wing authoritarians.
