BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s parliament on Thursday lifted the immunity of a prominent far-right lawmaker with the Alternative for Germany party, after which authorities searched his home and offices following a court order.

    Fuck yyeeeeaaah

Krah has had it coming for a long time now. One of the most publicly and actively corrupt politicians we have.

Every now and then our parliament comes through and leverages the full force of the constitution.

Good, but with a process this long, I imagine he’s had more than enough time to hide/destroy any relevant evidence.

He left / was kicked out of the EU parliament because of corruption, spying, etc. and was elected to the German parliament after that so I am not too hopeful.

when even his party colleagues are careful about defending him, i’m pretty confident he will be out for the time being.
usually they jump at any opportunity to play the victim, but here they dance around the topic pretty obviously

One would hope so. But if there’s one thing far-right politicians do really well, it’s surviving political scandals.

The raids came in the wake of allegations that Maximilian Krah, 47, has had ties to China and was involved in corruption and spying scandals.

Why did he have “immunity” in the first place? Why does anyone get immunity while normal citizens do not

The idea is that the government can not prosecute other members of parliament that the ruling party might not like.

You need to sufficient evidence and a majority must vote to remove immunity.

Its a result of the faschos, of course.

Greece has a similar law in place. It is one of the main reasons why eventually corruption permeated greece.

NO immunity for German nazis! Root them out, and disband their party immediately.

Stop taking it easy on the nazis, Germany. It’s easier to get rid of them BEFORE they illegally steal all the power.

If you followed his story it’s obvious he is hilariously corrupt, even for a politician. He thought he’d get away with it. His far right supporters don’t care, of course, and will defend him no matter what.

Hint: he is just the tip of the iceberg. The whole AFD is undermined by the russia-china axis.

I fear that Germany too is in turn just the tip of the iceberg.

We have been infiltrated much more thoroughly than we think.
