Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced the rollout of GenAI.mil today in a video posted to X. To hear Hegseth tell it, the website is “the future of American warfare.” In practice, based on what we know so far from press releases and Hegseth’s posturing, GenAI.mil appears to be a custom chatbot interface for Google Gemini that can handle some forms of sensitive—but not classified—data.

Hegseth’s announcement was full of bold pronouncements about the future of killing people. These kinds of pronouncements are typical of the second Trump administration which has said it believes the rush to “win” AI is an existential threat on par with the invention of nuclear weapons during World War II.

I mean - given it has already hallucinated wrong health and safety information, plus has merrily led several people to self-terminate in their paranoia, I’d say that AI is already making America more lethal - towards itself!

Just like Israel’s Gospel, Lavander and Where’s Daddy AI models designed to maximise innocent casualties and make sure no one is to blame.

American “Patriots” are fucking weird, man. Like… “You can’t disrespect the flag, but here’s a snot-rag with the flag on it.”

    You people are nuts.

      American here.

      Can confirm.

Over 4 decades living in this circus sideshow and I can tell you with certainty that Americans have a serious mental health crisis. I see it all around me, all the time. Uneducated fools with no concern for the future, no critical thinking skills, and deep psychological problems.

American here, and I was a little boy scout like 30 years ago so I actually learned some of the rules of the US flag code.

Ever since then I have constantly noticed many of the people who most need to display their patriotism also being ignorant of the official rules for showing respect to their favorite flag.

And to be clear, I don’t care about the rules surrounding the flag. It’s just amusing and/or sad to see how superficial people can be and how little effort they put into learning about anything, much less something that is core to their identity. See also: rules in the bible.

Oh I agree. As a Canadian we have our fair share of people who do the same weird and wacky shit with our flag. The only difference being I don’t see (most of us) idolizing the flag itself as much as our southern neighbours (proper spelling) seem to.

To me (and most Canadians…and I presume at least some Americans) it’s just a piece of cloth. Respect the country…but don’t idolize a piece of cloth…

Shoes to drag it through the dirt, undies to rub your crotch on it and if anyone shows me condoms to fuck the flag with, I won’t be the least bit surprised.

Seems like someone read Art of War for his bed time lately:

A truly memorable story! I remember the tale of Jesus jumping down from the cross, jumpstarting his campaign to overthrow the Roman Empire. The greatest lesson to learn from Jesus is that mercy is a weakness.

(This is based off the “The Inquisitor” universe where Christianity is openly based off of cruelty against one’s enemies)

Maybe AI kills less innocent people than this douche who drinks more than even me, which is an accomplishment.

I mean we live in the dumbest possible timeline and I still think this sounds stupid as fuck. Imagine what me from 10-15 years ago in the less stupid timeline would have thought reading this.

    Truly a clown nation.

10 years ago we were all saying “this shit is getting fucking CRAZY but it will all blow over soon, we’re better than this!”

We were not, in fact, better than this :(
