Another added touch would be to park a big ugly motor home in the driveway

This reminds me of one of my favourite memories this time of year - walking the streets of Lisbon, Portugal with my wife. We didn’t have much money (we never did) but it was always fun to travel to new places in the world and to explore it as much as we could. It was December, cold, wet, miserable which is why we were there … it’s the cheapest time of year to travel because no one wants to go somewhere where the weather is not so great. But on those cold walks at night, they have street vendors selling roasted chestnuts … we couldn’t believe it. We had only read about stuff like that and it was the most cozy feeling to huddle in the drafty cold while eating a warm handful of freshly roasted chestnuts next to the hot fire of the cart.
Always love that argument … they don’t want or they disagree with the idea of ‘equal rights’ … which logically means that they are in favour of or agree with the idea of ‘unequal rights’
Bored apathetic McDonald’s worker: … please sir, get off the table … (then walks away to check the deep fryer)
Hi! … (then awkwardly standing by for the next two hours as the snail slowly moves away)

You give rattles and shiny things to toddlers to keep them from damaging the furniture or falling down the stairs.
Him and all his imaginary friends
Stupidity-ception
He keeps doing stupid things … we keep accepting it … so he does even more stupid things … we keep accepting more
You are right … we’re all stupid all around

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you personally use upvotes/downvotes?English
8·9 days agoSame here … if I’ve read or looked at something, I’ll just upvote, just to encourage people to post or comment again.
Even if someone says I’m wrong on something or disagrees, I’ll still upvote. I’ve been corrected lots of times in the past (on many other platforms) so I don’t mind being told I’m wrong if I objectively look at my content and see how I was wrong.
The only time I’ll downvote is if I come across blatant hateful, ugly, racist, homophobic, misogynistic crap.
The stupid one is not Trump … chances are he knows how dumb this all is.
The stupid ones are the people who designed and organized all this, the American people who just take it as normal and all the supposed professionals everywhere in journalism and news agencies who just report non critically.
He isn’t the idiot … we are.

When a company does it to make more money and take more control, it’s just business as usual.
I had a dream the other night of being on top of a high rise building … I looked at the sunset only to realize that a large wall of water was approaching ready to flood the city I was in … then I woke up.
The strangest part was that this would have normally scared me … but that in the dream, "I felt like ‘meh’ so the world’s going to end - great … I felt like I didn’t care that things were ending. "

8·14 days agoParadox of Tolerance
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_of_toleranceThe paradox of tolerance is a philosophical concept suggesting that if a society extends tolerance to those who are intolerant, it risks enabling the eventual dominance of intolerance, thereby undermining the very principle of tolerance.
If we all just idly sit by and let assholes be assholes, all we’re ever going to end up with is to be surrounded by assholes. Not only should we stand up and say something or show our displeasure or disagreement with these idiots … common people should stop voting these morons into positions of power.
These idiots don’t get into power because they have any kind of charisma or power over people … they get into power because most people idly stand by and just watch them as they take control of power knowing that no one or not enough people will stop them.
Usually, its from the freeze/melt cycle forming giant blocks of ice somewhere on the road … then the plow pushing a giant chunk right onto your driveway. Best time for this is usually at the end of winter when it’s constantly thawing then refreezing at night.
Somewhere randomly within those deposits is a large boulder of solid ice that is too hard to break, too heavy to move, yet somehow occupies the middle of the snowpile.

Then after five minutes of furious typing you say …
