- Play video games, according to a lot. Be absolutely enamored by cats? Some people have told me only toddlers like kitties so, what? Confusing. - Who the hell thinks only toddlers should really like cats? I guess the millions of cat owners worldwide are wrong? - It confused me too at the time! - I’ve had people tell me that a 6’3" tall man shouldn’t give a crap that almost all animals and children love me. I just tell them that they will never be protected by hummingbirds, and so I have a source of laughter they will never know. - I don’t sing in the forest anymore though.

- I have a couple cats, I guess that makes me a toddler then. Does that mean I don’t have to pay rent? - If only. Every person on earth would own a cat! A net gain for cats, probably!

- Play Beyblade. I’m in my late 30s.
- Eat shrooms and play The Fractured but Whole. - Shrooms are the best way I have found to center myself and relieve stress long term. They almost should be mandatory for government service at the upper echelons. - 2CT-7 is how to meet “the universe/ God,” and have an ego death, but damn the visuals are fun.

- Sleeping with a cuddly toy. My parter converted me and they’re great. Tbh, they actually make a lot of sense as a middleaged person. Now that I’m old and less flexible, I end up with a sore back or shoulder if I don’t have proper support when sleeping. And I’d much rather have a big lion buddy than some weird orthopedic pillow or Dutch wife. - Ditto! I’m middle aged and can do wtf I want
- I’m going to talk to you like a Dutch uncle about your Dutch wife.

- Watch anime I guess, if people still think it’s only for kids and young adults. - I’m with you on this one. It’s almost exclusively what I watch.

- I play Animal Crossing. - I’m 46
- Drink like I’m still 24.
- According to my spouse: play D&D. - The only way your spouse could be correct is if you’re still playing 2e and you’re under 50. - I feel personally attacked. I occasionally dip back into 2.5E because Pools of Radiance, and Dragons of Winter Night are fun games, I managed to memorize the 2.5E rules by the time I was 13, and I’m currently 45… - Yeah i’m 43 but i got really frustrated with 2e era rules and moved on to cyberpunk, white wolf and gurps within a year or two of starting the hobby. - By the time 3e came out i was just not interested in fantasy rpgs anymore. - Since you seem to’ve been exposed to rpgs from birth, basically, you might count as slightly older in RPG-years than your real age? 😅 - Fair enough. My first attempt at a sci-fi RPG was the rather ill fated Babylon 5 TTRPG. I was exposed to Shadowrun, and Cyberpunk, but being 13-15 years old, an old Whovian, a Trekkie, and a Babylon 5 fan at the time, I couldn’t see a future that was that bleak and dystopian. - It’s only been recently, as in the last decade or so, that I have realized that Babylon 5 was a playbook, and a dream, for an anti fascist overthrow of a fascist government. Unfortunately we don’t have a space station that can just barely support itself, with a portion of the military loyal to the constitution of earth, without the government, and can stand up to the government militarily. - Edit: nah, I’m not older than my real age. I’m 45 and can feel it. Every few months one of my joints introduces me to a whole new place that pain can come from. I may need to get some osteobiflex. - My first was RIFTS, which i did not have the stomach for at all. By comparison cyberpunk and cybergen ran like a dream, just as my friends and I were getting into Akira. - I never tried the Bab5 rpg, but i stayed up late with my mother to watch it. I was shocked when rewatching a few years back to see lucille blooth playing a regime loyalist captain. - Dear Lord, I forgot about RIFTS. I saw the descriptions of the sourcebooks in my TTRPG catalog that I no longer remember the name of, and thought that they were trying too hard.

- I used to also… I used to. Looking forward to rolling a wizard when I get to the retirement home - my old group would talk about the group nursing home they would need to be in some day to be running games.

- D&D became popular in the eighties. Why should people who played it then start hating it as they get older?
- I started playing D&D as a two or three year old kid. Admittedly back then my involvement mas limited. My parent’s D&D group called me “the Hobbit Thief,” as they would put me to bed, and then I would sneak into the room, and steal dice off the table. Apparently I would then sneak back to my room and hide said dice under my mattress.accordong to my mother, either I was extremely fast, or they didn’t notice the missing dice for several months. I had also taught myself to pick locks by that point, but that was to escape the tyranny of being inside, but I digress. - My first character I rolled up was when I was 5 or 6. No I don’t remember them, but I bet my dad and mom still have the character sheet. - My parents are now in their late 70s and early 80s. They still play D&D and recommended being a DM to people that think they want kids. Apparently there is a fair bit of overlap in running a fun game, and a functional family. - Wow wholesome. That sounds great haha. I’ve only been a player, but when my son is a bit older maybe I’ll try out being a DM. - Your post really made me smile. Thanks for posting and the good idea of family D&D.
- They still play D&D and recommended being a DM to people that think they want kids. Apparently there is a fair bit of overlap in running a fun game, and a functional family. - I am a parent, and this tells me I lack the requisite energy and creativity to be a DM. I struggle enough as it is.

- Ride my bicycle with no hands. I’m told it is undignified for a 45 year old man. - They’re just jealous of your balance!

- Fantasize about murdering politicians - Interesting that you feel it’s not age appropriate. At what age do you think it would be appropriate? - Retirement age. - /s - Retirement has been abolished. We all get to work till we die! Yay! 😒

- [redacted] (my lawyers have advised me not to publically share my thoughts) 😏

- Go out dancing.
- Am in my early 40s. And yet I do not have my shit together in any meaningful sense. With each passing decade that becomes less and less sexy.
- Just turned 50 and still ride a skateboard. - That’s fine. It just means that you’re rad.
- I ride an electric scooter. I love it.
- Same. - I figure I won’t die as long as I kep skating. Skate or die, right? - You don’t quit skating cause you got old, you got old cause you quit skating.

- work for low wages
- Bold & easy coloring books. People are very judgemental about it since it looks like a children’s coloring book, but there’s a reason it’s in the top selling books lists online. Got some cheap alcohol markers and an audiobook on my headphones and I’m gone for the next few hours. - Can vou recommend any good coloring books? My partner really likes bold ones too, but it’s sometimes a challenge to find any that are not themed after a childrens’ TV show. - I really like the coco wyo ones and bobbie goods (which unfortunately isn’t widely available here). Coco wyo has a lot, also Halloween themes/Christmas. ‘girl moments’ is popular too, the main character is a young woman instead of animals if your partner identifies as a woman and wants a change of vibe. - Yeah she does and I just looked the books you recommended up, they’re perfect! Thank you so much, and both brands are pretty easy to get here as well! - Happy to help! I know she’s gonna get some amazing Christmas gifts from you now! Haha
