What’s the news?
~> With the sale of Amsterdam-based data security company Zivver, sensitive information about European citizens is now in the hands of Kiteworks.
~ The CEO of the American tech company is a former cyber specialist from an elite unit of the Israeli army, as are several other members of its top management.
~ Various institutions in Europe and the U.K. - from hospitals to courts and immigration services - use Zivver to send confidentia documents. While Zivver says these documents are encrypted, an investigation by Follow the Money shows that the company is able to read their contents.
Why does this matter?
~ Cybersecurity and intelligence experts told Follow the Money that the takeover should either have been prevented or properly assessed in advance.
~ Zivver processes information that could be extremely valuable t« third parties, such as criminals or foreign intelligence services.
~ That information is now subject to invasive U.S. law, and overseen by a company with well-documented links to Israeli intelligence.
How was this investigated?
~ Follow the Money investigated the acquisition of Zivver and the management of Kiteworks, and spoke to experts in intelligence services and cyber security.

USian here - been wondering that about credit reporting bureaus and data brokers for a loooooooong time now.
Corruption
From the 80s, the EU has basically embraced the neo-lib/neo-con doctrine of “everything that can be privatized, must be” EU Member nations couldn’t keep things in government hands if they wanted to.

Basically a corporate oligarchy run everything. We all live in capitalist dictatorships masquerading as “democracy”. Your level of representation is proportional to your wealth.
This is very clear and happening fast in Finland as well.
Healthcare sucks and kids don’t even get free dental anymore. Kids. Used to be completely free until you’re 18.
Now I can’t even get a time for the public system, either you wait for months or take a voucher to go to a private doctor — the catch being that you won’t actually find a single dentist who would do it as cheaply as the cost of the voucher. I had one, it was supposedly worth ~100 euros, so I went to a private dentist, ended up paying 113 for a simple cavity repair. I looked at what it would’ve cost without the voucher and it was pretty much exactly the same prize.
So the voucher doesn’t make care more available or cheaper, yet it’s pretty much the only thing available anymore.
And politicians wonder why most of us still don‘t want full digitization of our healthcare system here in Germany. It would be extremely useful and effective if it didn‘t came with this massive drawback that every single intelligence service on earth can have a peek whenever they want.
Designing the system right is not an option.
This is NOT a general conspiracy.
It is some heads on my breadboard.
Seemingly, that reasoning-change is not so far away: i got some cards with names on them.
And i’m definitely not “far-right”. I just want to see criminals in prison.
