I have heard before that they try to rehome those dogs with cops and former cops so that they can’t be used by drug smugglers to perfect their packing methods. No idea how true that is, but I doubt the veracity of this story.
My grandma used to get ex drug dogs from somewhere and she was never affiliated with law enforcement. Some were retired and the others failed out for different reasons. They were all very biddable labs.

Unless this person’s mom is a cop in a place where weed is legal but just disallowed by their mom.
