Not arguing with your points (we agree), but regarding my comment about literacy (not the poster who responded):
I was implying that one needs a basic level of tech literacy to even think about cameras as always being on. (As evidenced by the OP, and the poster who replied to me)
As WE know, “I shut off the camera” does not mean the camera is not recording, and “I shut off the WIFI” does not mean the data is secure. Some do not know this.

I can tell you as a tech literate person in healthcare… That I am in the minority of security conscious and knowledgeable users of said technology.
I expect HIPPA violations of unparalleled proportion from this new tech.
People are already terrible at security, and now they have even more information recording methods to mess up.

So, now you have to trust:
That the person is not intentionally recording you.
That they are not unintentionally recording you.
(Because if a camera is on, and eventually connected to the Internet, well… I should not have to explain how that can be an issue in this forum at least. We now have to trust the users tech literacy, and security diligence.)

Well, you see, I need my hidden wearable camera to detect other hidden cameras…

Why don’t they just install Mint, Zorin, or even xUbuntu (XFCE versions of each)…
That’s 3 examples with actual support and a user base >3 edgelord cat bois.

Something like that, according to LLM translation from the original text. Who am I to question the machine spirit.

Thanks. I’ll do better next time.
The instinct to immediately pull over is a mistake, it arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Mash the pedal down and make the bastard chase you
No cop was ever born who isn’t a sucker for a finely-executed hi-speed Controlled Drift.
Accelerate immediately. When you see the red light, do not stop. Speed up to 120 mph.
Force the chase. Drive to the next exit while signaling confusingly (e.g., indicating a right turn while staying on the freeway).
By forcing the officer to lose control of their vehicle while trying to keep up with your finely-executed hi-speed Controlled Drift, you shift the psychological dynamic. This makes him horny.

I can make a joke in a trench and still shoot the guy charging over the hill when the time comes. Atheists and comedians are in the foxhole with us right now.

Looks like a job for Dickbutt.

Well, I do like to go bowling. There’s nothing like taking that big black ball and knocking it into those ten white pins with the red necks!
Sweep this poster off the stage Sandman!
Sounds like a luxury for the rich. The poors need a job and not a mountain of debit for “balanced education” and social connection.
The poors can still get in if they are willing to become indebted wage slaves with a 6 figure debit for the next 20-30 years. Seems fair enough.
Just, don’t expect to get in to a social connection generator for nepo babies, you get a state school with institutionalized alcoholism.

As someone with a home server and security cameras… (See 3rd paragraph for flock)
The cameras don’t have any ram. At least not the kind we are talking about. They use onboard processors and flash memory.
The NVR typically has 4-8g ram but that’s the not the camera, that’s the hub that they all connect to, and it also has the HHD/SSD wich is now also double+ the price. It’s also not external, it’s in a secure location.
Flock: AFAIK cameras run snapdragon, so it’s like a cell phone, with 2g ram chip. Not PC RAM. That, once again, could be in the NVR, which I believe is cloud based, so not a local device you can access.
I went into biology to avoid the worst of the chemistry math, and still ended up taking calculus, organic chem, ext… Then went medical… At least I mostly only do unit conversion and proportions I have memorized now, and use computers for most things.
Spending a lifetime pushing through suspected but undiagnosed dyscalculia is tiresome. Friggin transposition errors… (Probably some type of Semantic Memory or Procedural subtype).
Do they pay royalties to the estate of Kurt Vonnegut for stealing his asshole?
‘Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I’m way to far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them.’
I’m not using any “forced on me” AI products, other than as a search engine aid, and I have better tools for that now anyway.
I do, absolutely use AI. I use local, self hosted small focused AI that run on old hardware I was just using to self host media and games anyway.
Want do my AI do? Lots of boring organizing, text/voice recognition, and script/simple coding for hobby projects and such, all offline. For online stuff there are private large models vailable, but those cost money and I’m cheap.
If I lost it all? Well it would just take me longer to do the boring stuff and have less time for fun stuff edit
