This is a slippery slope fallacy. I say sports isn’t worth throwing every single other concern out the window, and you say ah but it’s not about sports, that’s just how it begins - if we don’t stand up for sports now, tomorrow they’ll be shoveling trans kids into crematoria.
I won’t engage that faulty line of reasoning.
I dunno there are a lot of ignorant assholes in the world.
Condemn the statements, surely. Make trans sports an overriding litmus test for any candidate? No.
Once again, it’s not like I don’t see and understand the issue. I want kids to be able to participate and compete.
I simply will not sacrifice all other concerns for this, and make trans sports a litmus test for all candidates.
People really seem to need me to be a complete transphobic monster for feeling this way. But it’s just a matter of priorities and where the line is drawn. Politics is compromise.
Fine. THAT trans right is not a redline priority for me. I feel differently about the availability of gender affirming healthcare. Everyone responding to me really, really needs me to be an anti-trans monster, but I’m simply not going to litmus test candidates on the trans sports issue.
You don’t have to fuck yourself. But you might be asked to hold your nose and vote even if you can’t compete on the sports team you want. I’m actually unclear when that became a human right. I am far more concerned for your physical safety under another Trump administration.
I have trans family and love and support them. There is a difference between their rights, freedom, and existence, and their sports careers. They themselves do not place their sports career over every other issue that exists, and neither should you.
Before you run out of oxygen and collapse, it’s simpler than that. Making trans people in sports a litmus test for any Democratic candidate is a fast track to handing Trump a third term. If we can’t prioritize any better than that, we anre done. And then you can kiss every issue that matters goodbye, including trans people in sports.
Yes, sweetie, I’m sorry to be the bearer of realism, but we must prioritize. And no, I’m no going over the existential edge for any fucking thing having to do with sports, period. We need to get a grip on the fact that we are hurtling toward extinction. You want to shriek about being able to compete on the team you choose as a do-or-die human right. Just no.
Fuck Newsom. I never liked him - mostly because he is a mental lightweight. The point is we should not make trans people in sports a litmus test for all candidates.
“Oh he isn’t on board with trans athletes? Piece of shit! Next!”
There are in fact more important things to worry about.
Apparently the climate, the constitution, and every child in Gaza need to die on the hill of trans people in sports.
The funny thing about trans people is that they also care about having an administration full of insane clowns enabling climate catastrophe, the next pandemic, and the Gaza genocide.
Support him for what?
I fail to see how you think those draconian home inspections are going to be more politically tractable than banning assault rifles. I appreciate you taking the time to explain your (clearly passionately held) ideas, but I don’t think we’re looking at this issue at all similarly.
What’s safe ownership and how can Democrats advance it legislatively?
That’s some very antiquated and naive logic. NONE of these conflicts involved a formal declaration of war:
Korean War
Vietnam War
Persian Gulf
Afghanistan
Iraq War
So you’re going to tell me we weren’t at war for any of those? Bullshit. There’s been plenty of work for a Department of War in the US since WW2.
Setting aside my Trump hate for a moment: this is a good thing. “Department of Defense” was always a euphemism. “Defense spending” my ass. Let’s call it what it is and then see if Americans feel as good about spending so much on a “Department of War” versus “Defense.”
Are you saying that every jurisdiction that has squabbled over trans people in sports has proceeded to genocide? This slope is more slippery than I thought!
You’ve tried twice now to get me to disprove a point you won’t even come right out and make. It won’t work. Make your point, if you can, that by failing to support trans people in sports, Gavin will shortly be shoveling trans kids into the ovens, like so many jurisdictions have before him.
