

When they say jashne Julus they’re referring to people marching for Eid-e-Milad-un-Nab or the birth of Muhammad. Essentially one of the marchers posted a Facebook video of him denigrating the madrassa, the cops arrested him for it before the march, but when the marchers passed the school, the people in the school attacked the buses of the marchers. The two groups come from different Islamic schools of thought. The marchers are essentially doing newer worship practices (the jashne Julus) that the madrassa students think are unislamic.

From what I can tell there are also significant political coalition undercurrents as well driving this. Usually this level of nonsense (iconoclasm, nature of the Trinity) is driven by politics somehow. There’s a reason they marched right in front of the madrassa I’m sure.
