I said good things about China again didn’t I and that made you insecure or mad so you checked my profile.

  • Because unlike AI, there is actual money to be made in space. Elon has little to do with SpaceX besides the grand mission statement, and SpaceX engineers have said as much that employees mostly just humor him and then do the real engineering.

So yes, they will be going to the moon. Three years ago super heavy couldn’t get out of the atmosphere, now they’ve had several successful launches and catches. 20 years ago reusable rockets were a pipe dream that NASA gave up on because ‘it would be too difficult,’ now there are more Falcon 9 launches than any other rocket in history.

The business is there, the science is there, the engineering is there; and that means lunar resource hunting is in sight. and with that we have stellar construction, and then we have everything we need to start, at the very least, microgravity clean room manufacturing, if not asteroid mining, and if not potential colonization.

NASA is doing the science to take out risks for these things, Capital will capitalize on these things after the public pays for the finer points.

  • I learned meditation and dis-associative day dreaming for the inevitable day that my politics are a little too radical and I’m thrown in prison. Between that and exercise (assuming food and water are allowed) I’d personally be fine for a few months. After that though your mind physically starts to eat itself in isolation so… probably not great.

  • And now instead of fighting one army, you’re fighting ten. Good luck even having a country after that.

Pretty easy in fact, just ask china. Well there was one Island that cried to mommy and was a fascist dictatorship protected by the US for half a century before “democratic” reforms came in (incidentally after all the natives of that island died and the only people left were descendants of the fascist dictatorship that fled there.

This is a lesson the Americans learn the hard way in the Middle East, over and over again.

No, the lesson Americans keep learning is there is no revolution without popular support. You cannot coup your way to a popular and favorable government. Because popular governments never align with American interests outside the quite literally evil west. Popular governments in the rest of the world are socialist or communist, because they actually are democracies and care about the quality of life of their populace, while also caring about all other humans. Unlike all western governments.

  • Hence my solution. You can get 2-4 TB drives for around $30 on ebay. Get a flexible RAID controller that can handle multi-parity Raid 50, ideally a second hand raid card. We’re at a total of $230 in at this point, assuming you have a windows 10 desktop lying around.

This is not a high data speed situation. If you have 6 or more drives you can dedicate two to parity and now you will never have data loss despite buying second hand drives. Effective storage capacity will be 16TB, which is more than enough to store 100 full series and a few thousand movies at 1080p or lower, and raid 50 gives a speed boost above what your controller will likely be able to handle, and way above what is needed for even a quite large multi-user media server.

Data storage is still incredibly cheap. You’re just confusing your needs and your wants.

  • What’s lazy is assuming chinese people have no ability for self determination and holding that racist belief to such an extreme level of nonsensicality that you believe literally the most high tech job in world history, one that is done 99% by machines because humans objectively cannot possibly do the work, one that is overseen by people with a minimum of one PhD, one where there is no non-degree holder in the building, is somehow done by slaves…

Because what, you saw a BBC or RFA or other NED article saying China uses prison labor as a form of rehabilitation one time so now no Chinese person can do something without slaves?

If you were to critically analyze any of your thoughts you’d be embarrassed to how ridiculous your thoughts have become. Replace Chinese for any other nationality and see if what you’re about to say makes sense.

  • And China as a government, absolutely loves the idea of everyone’s computer usage going thru giant corporations because the Chinese government owns part of every Chinese company and doesn’t need a backdoor since they have a set of keys.

This is your brain on American Government propaganda.

Like, why would they make something that they don’t want and would sell for less profit margin overseas?

To steal market share and relevance from Taiwan, removing the incentive for the US to continue to support its continual war against China.

Why build for a bunch of broke consumers when there’s a blank check for anything related to data centers right now?

Because data centers are temporary. Consumers will outlast AI.

Why would you ever hope China would save us from this?

Because they’re the only government attempting to do anything for the common person. Yes, they’re China first, but their official stance is to encourage global revolution.

  • Except it’s not what the evidence suggests. We have yet to find physical evidence of consciousness. We have yet to find a way to accurately simulate a neuron in any falsifiable way (seriously look into the detractors and counterarguments to the fly study, it’s amazing that 3d graphics can trick that many people). But even beyond neurons we cannot accurately link brain activity to behavior in anything but a superficial way. We have no insight into how decisions are made or what ultimately drives them.

More importantly, if the world is deterministic, all meaning in life is gone. Completely. And the second it is objectively proven most people will kill themselves. Any intelligent being would kill itself, since that’s the logical next step in the chain of thought and it wouldn’t have a choice.

Meaning the universe is flawed if the point of it is to create life, and if there is no point to the universe and it’s purely deterministic, we are in a worse hell than has ever been imagined in the totality of human expression. Arguably the worst possible hell there could ever be.

Nonexistence would be the infinitely better option.

  • Not how we’re wired, how patriarchy views both forms. Seriously, you can’t just put up a study that confirms an assumption of patriarchy without acknowledging that it is, on some level, circular logic.

This is a wonderful idea, it’s not a falsifiable theory though. This makes assumptions that Patriarchy in its current form is so deeply ingrained it affects every study on nudity preferences done at the subconscious level. So the only way your idea could ever be proven is if we, in a vacuum, develop cloned humans and developed a specific matriarchal society for them that we some how teach them without any possible contamination, and then repeat tests like these and see if there’s a difference.

Patriarchy is the dominant worldview, patriarchy says that beauty is a feminine trait, most people agree that women are more beautiful than men. All that proves is that most people accept the patriarchal definition of beauty.

Or alternatively, Patriarchy developed from common human traits in majority, which resulted in a preference for the female form in regards to beauty (it didn’t), which associated beauty as a feminine trait (it didn’t), and thus it’s not the tail that wags the dog, but indeed the opposite.

If you conducted this same study in ancient Greece, would you expect the same result? If no, then cultural views of beauty play a big role in this. If yes, then why were the ancient Greeks obsessed with male nudity?

Yes, actually. And more specifically it would benefit your argument if that study was done – since Ancient Greece was a heavily patriarchal society regardless of which period you pick and which society you want to pick within Ancient Greece. Arguably it was a more patriarchal society than today; with the fact women were not seen as sexual partners (Athens, Sparta, etc), just spouses meant to produce children.

We’d also have to broach the fact that outside a few renaissance artists imitating an ignorant variance of ancient Greece, there was not an obsession with male nudity over female nudity. They were just more open with both compared to later western societies that built themselves with Greece as a template.

  • Well it’s good you support vulnerable populations. Say did you hear about this guy pretty much universally called a dictator who forcibly conscripts innocent poor kids and ethnic minorities into his foreign war for power while keeping most of his military at home in order to ensure tight control over the domestic population so they can’t meaningfully rebel and even when they do international media spins it as the enemy country in this dictator’s war having a successful attack even when it’s obvious domestic sabotage that likely has nothing to do with the war except, obviously, the forced conscription and increased domestic military presence?

Man that seems like a target rich environment full of blood thirsty enemies for you to root for the complete and total genocide of and not at all a vulnerable population.
