It really depends on the facility. Some are better than others. They vary wildly and it’s hard for you as a consumer to know which ones are good and which are bad. Some large zoos have extensive conservation programs and focus around education, and some are just animals in jail for entertainment. From the outside it’s hard to tell the difference a lot of the time.

It’s one of the reasons I support Alveus Sanctuary and their recent expansions and future plans. Their facilities and programs are based around video streaming and chat interaction, instead of in person exhibits. They have collaborative events with streamers, etc. in person to help further their reach to new people and educate viewers that otherwise may never interact at all with that type of content. Otherwise all of the animals have limited human interaction only with the employees. Those in person collaborations are always about educating the viewers about the animals and various societal links related to them. Things like pesticide use on bugs and how that propagates up the food chain, selective breeding and trade of exotic animals, amphibians and environmental pollution, etc.

Don’t know this specific situation, but there are animals in captivity because they’re unable to be released back into the wild for various reasons. Things like animals being actively rehabilitated. Or ones that are now animal ambassadors used to teach people about the species or parts of human society that negatively affect wildlife. Maybe because they are unable to fly anymore, or they imprinted on humans, are unable to forage or hunt properly, etc.

Various distro and general forums and GitHub/similar sites. I’ve come across several over the last few years. The types of places you go for actual help from people with knowledge and experience. Not just various social media sites.

It’s a small amount in the grand scheme, but they’re vocal. All it takes is one raging asshole for a normie first trying out Linux and looking for a solution to an issue to be driven away entirely.

That’s pretty normal when you’re buying small amounts directly from the mint. You really only do that when you are looking to collect, and intend to hold them in mint condition until the value is increased from rarity years down the line.

That helps a bit but doesn’t fix studios not remixing audio properly from the theater mix to home audio where the majority of people have basic stereo. No excuse since every physical format and online service supports multiple audio streams.

You don’t have a screwdriver? M.2 screws don’t use any sort of special screw head. They’re almost always a regular phillips screw size #0 or #1, maybe even being cut for a flathead to work as well.

I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a drive come with a screwdriver.

The M.2 screw itself usually comes with your motherboard. But even then, they’re fairly standard. The specification is for a M2-0.4 x 3mm screw.

A0 is 1m² with a ratio of 1:√2. Cut that in half along the larger side and you have A1, half it again and you have A2, etc. on down the line.

The entire series maintains the same exact ratio down to A13 at 9mmx13mm.

Isn’t this one of the things that embedding C2PA in generated images is supposed to help with? Even though it predates the current AI bubble, it is a provenance system. With a quick search, it seems like many of the big players are on board already.

Dude I found a couple Youtube channels about stunting that have been interesting and fun to watch when bored. It takes a TON of skill to do that.

It is well known that printers require regular blood sacrifices to power the arcane magic they were originally created with. Being able to take information already output to the screen, and bring it back to put on paper required a terrible deal with powers beyond human comprehension. That deal is still at the core of modern printing.

All it takes is one asshole during the trial phase to turn someone off from the community entirely. Especially a non-technical person trying to come from something like Windows. And there are a lot of vocal ones across the various Linux communities. Especially in the discussions on GitHub, which is where you end up for support on nearly every piece of software not from a massive corporation, unless it’s a simple solution or a very common issue.

The number of times I have posted looking for assistance with an issue, or a small suggestion, and gotten some variant of “fix it (or add it) yourself, it’s FOSS” over the last couple years is a bit ridiculous.

Most of the community is great and super helpful. But the assholes are prevalent and very vocal.

Yeah the use case I see for these is literally having a record of your trip or vacation without having to take out a camera or phone and bring you out of the natural experience just to snap a photo or video. You can just exist and experience it in the moment, then pull a recording or photo from it later.

Augmented reality is another, albeit smaller, use case. Like displaying navigation when walking or biking around an unfamiliar city, again without having to pull out your phone.

You’re in public, there are hundreds of cameras recording you and your surroundings at any point. Nearly every store has security cameras, cities have cameras monitoring nearly every intersection nowadays(not even including things like Flock, just the old dumb traffic monitoring cameras). You have control of absolutely none of those recordings at any point. And that doesn’t even get into vloggers, tourists, etc.

There should be a button to ban anyone that submits any changes using AI from your projects.

Slopcoders would never be able to strip the included AI tool identifiers so it would likely be one of the most accurate automated ban tools ever made.

I’ve always seen signs posted next to speed humps and bumps for additional notice they are there, in addition to the paint on them.

It looks like there should be a sign on the right next to the bump, but it’s missing and just the empty pole.
