Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Fellow 'Fediversers,' what keeps you hanging on here despite the "FV" being a work-in-progress, with all its built-in, various bumps & difficulties to experience along the way?English
1·7 days agoIt doesnt make sense to put in free labor (posting, commenting, sharing etc) for a commercial organization (reddit, instagram, etc). Using the fediverse makes more sense to me

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your opinion on communism?English
7·7 days agoI think it would be good if you offered a definition of communism, bc it can mean different things to different people.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Someone with your last name commits a heinous crime and their name becomes infamous, would you change that name? Why or Why not?English
9·8 days agoHarvey Epstein is crazy bad luck for a name.
For me, it depends on the crime and how common or uncommon the name is but still probably not.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think about the protocol behind Bluesky, ATproto, and how do you think it compares to ActivityPub?English
3·2 months agoOkay, I didn’t know ATproto had many parts that can be independent or dependent on each other. It would be nice if there was an easy way to check the level of independence of an instance

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you think about the protocol behind Bluesky, ATproto, and how do you think it compares to ActivityPub?English
10·2 months agoI don’t use it much, but from what I understand ATproto used to super expensive to self host but now costs have fallen significantly and other instances outside of the main Bluesky instance have emerged. I think now the problem they have to solve is getting the users (who are something like 99 per cent on the main Bluesky instance) over to the other instances.

In Amharic, spoken in Ethiopia, you use the the formal you in formal settings (mostly work or legal related matters) or when speaking to an elderly person. The informal you has variations for women and men but the formal you is gender neutral.
