The price hike on raw materials, while real, is much less than the effect of surplus should be on the market, and they affect everything through inflation. Don’t just take their word for it, look at the 10-year historical graphs, they follow a general trend.

This is a pretty big tell that it has nothing to do with AI, it’s just price gouging for price gouging sake’s. Data center setups don’t use consumer level PSUs and CPU coolers. If anything, their price should be going down given that the rise in RAM, SSDs, and GPUs are leading to people building less PCs and waiting longer to do so. The supply for these components should be going up due to excess supply.

There were tanks that mowed down people in Tiananmen Square Massacre, but in the infamous particular photo that made Tank Man famous, it really does characterize the restraint of that particular commander and/or driver from their shame, specially because others in the same massacre didn’t. It’s used to illustrate what difference one instance of opposition can make, but it’s also inherently only possible because that tank chose not to make that guy an statistic. The thing is, you are much more likely to get someone in the military to doubt themselves when facing its from an army that made up of the general geographic group of your peers than you are from one specially made to include the most racist, narcissistic, and power-tripping members of it. That’s why soldiers get a lot of the post traumatic stress disorder than some of these assholes never will (and neither do I think Jonathan Ross was suffering from it).

It’s crazy to me that in this rush towards a dictatorship, they won’t even recognize that people can make mistakes, which is what they could have tried to pass this off. The reason the user was banned from lemmy.world was apparently ban evasion from users who self-identified as attention whores. The original account seems to have been banned for multiple unflagged NSFW posts, and other inappropriate posts, including their last one where they seem to have admitted to having a vendetta against lemmy.world and that they were basically going to shitpost AI all over it.

Nothing wrong with the comments that were removed in this thread, but damn the irony of making those comments and who was making them.
