Technology@lemmy.world•After police used Flock cameras to accuse a Denver woman of theft, she had to prove her own innocenceEnglish
12·10 days agoEverything about this is so messed up that the incompetent, lazy cop is the least surprising part.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Sometimes people like to complain about windows and iOS
47·14 days agoI think the problem is worse. People tell me I should hate Microsoft and should be complaining. I’m no fan, but its just part of my life. Its got issues, but rarely does it interupt the busyness of my life. I’m ambivalent about Microsoft. They are not very different from the vast majority of global corporations.
I’m going to say this clearly, this comment is not an invitation to tell me how I should hate Microsoft.

The larger temperature controls and the vertically, slightly curved stack make so much sense to me.
It’s Turkiye. I put Turkiye in the oven.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why is every person involved in a movie listed in the credits?
45·20 days agoI assume there’s a historical reason why the entertainment industry
Yep. From what I’ve read it started out as “This studio made the film”. But then you got celebrities who were part of the studio. The studio used credits to engage the audience and remind them why they are there “Studio presents Movie starring Celebrity”.
Eventually other people behind the camera wanted acknowledgement so directors and producers got in. Writers and others who were unionized wanted to be included. And eventually it became to industry standard. So that’s now just how it’s done. It’s probably also easy proof that you worked on a project.
Is it important to note the person who drove the props? I don’t know. I don’t think it was a question they were asking when they decided the standard. It was in the contract, they were making credits anyways, it wasnt worth fighting over.

Hell yeah. Matching people’s energy and tone have been invaluable for me. And not just in the terrible situations. I find matching kind and energetic people even when I’m not in the mood to be the best cure for my malaise.
