I don’t know if it’s placebo, but I think I notice a difference in flavor between wild-caught and farm-raised salmon. I guess it’s like beef from cows that are raised with care versus beef from those that aren’t?

Several of the software jobs I had offered “unlimited” PTO, where as long as your shit was done, you could take off as much as you liked. Of course, that meant that they didn’t have to pay out your remaining days when you left, but it was a good reason to stay.

Even at a more mundane restaurant, only having one meal for each course to worry about drastically simplifies life for the entire back line, plus it makes life easier for the chef or whoever does the ordering as well.

I miss the in-between default color scheme of Win95-XP. It felt like someone had actually sat down and thought about visibility and utility, even if the widgets did look overly utilitarian.

I would say that finding that balance is up to the individual admin and application, really, which is where the defense in depth comes in. Yeah, it’s rare, and if those exploits are being used it means you’ve got the attention of someone you probably can’t really stop, but it’s something to take into consideration. Bad configs can cause data leakage across container boundaries, too, so without knowing the admin’s skill level, I tend to recommend against sharing that hardware with something that might have something valuable on it. AI has made it easier for script kiddies to find zero-days and exploit APT-level vulnerabilities, too.

It masks the registration info, but it can’t mask the IP by definition, and that can still be traced back to you.
