Yeah cops are literally the problem. Their “job” is to protect the system and the status quo and the interests of the rich and powerful

Germany: 2000€ would be someone working part-time or a bad job. It might be enough to scrape by. But not comfortable, depending on whether you want to live in a city. In a small town, you might be fine

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is allowing nudity the only stable solution to the eternal debate on rules about how people can dress?
12·2 months agoI gotta say thanks for that question. It lead me down a rabbit hole of exploring the laws and rules of nudity. It’s quite interesting

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Historically, did anyone interpret the bible from God's perspective?
1·3 months agoI’m not sure about that part. If it’s in Hebrew, greek or Aramaic in the original. The Hebrew name for the Torah-God is based upon breathing, something very human and corporeal. The verse I’m referencing is exodus 3:13-14 I’m not familiar what translation you would use in (modern) Hebrew. A translation called “compete Jewish bible” says: “ehyeh Asher Ehyeh”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Historically, did anyone interpret the bible from God's perspective?
73·3 months agoNo it’s not blasphemy. It’s a form of orthodoxy. “God made man in his image”, Jesus is “son of man”, and “the way and the life”. It’s pretty much there in the text that the bible in parts is just a set of instructions and examples to follow. So, yes. God stands for us. At least as a part of us. (God is portrayed as saying “I am”, meaning when you say “I” you say “god”.) god is the part of humans that creates. But we are both creators and creatures.
I’m not in a religion or anything. Just autistic with the bible as a hyperfocus, so take that caveat

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a good choice you've made recently, without it being obvious at the time that it was the right choice?
161·3 months agoDM’ing my first DnD one-shot. I really didn’t know how it would work out, if it would even happen (people are unreliable sometimes), or if I was putting way too much work into it.
But we all had such a blast and we already have the next two sessions scheduled. And my friendship with my colleagues is blossoming from it and it gives me such a feeling of belonging and being appreciated.
Being autistic and socially awkward, this is a really big step

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the most important things to teach a child that they're not going to get in school?
2·5 months agoI kinda disagree. I’d even say that’s the main thing that kids are supposed to learn especially in elementary school. Social skills and behaviour are the things that are great to teach in groups. Not so great at home with 1-3 kids

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the most important things to teach a child that they're not going to get in school?
1·5 months agoWhat’s your experience with groups of children? You can show stuff. But repetition and practice are not a great thing in a school setting. That needs to happen outside of school. I’ve worked with far over thousand kids and worked in elementary schools for over 10 years now. Yes you can “teach” the things. But the kids need time and space for their own pace at repeating and practicing them

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the most important things to teach a child that they're not going to get in school?
31·5 months agoSo many daily small thzate kinda impossible to teach a whole class, but are easy to teach a single child (source: I work in a school):
- reading the clock. May sound weird, but some kids get it really early and quickly, some take more time. Thus pretty frustrating to teach the whole class
- tying shoes (I know too many kids with 8 or 9 years old who can’t tie a knot, shoes are a good starter)
- generally small motor skills (crafts, crochet, weaving, whatever you want…)
And the one thing that school cannot teach and is also very difficult for parents: questioning authority

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What does an ideal society look like to you personally? Economic, governmental and/or social.
1·6 months agoI keep thinking about a world without money in it. Some form of trade of goods and services. Or a world without rent with housing as a socially distributed good according to needs. Or both. If we didn’t have rent (or mortgage) to worry about, everything could be extremely better. Also, obviously, no wealth accumulation, no inheritance, free basic income (if we do need something like money)

I see more and more people really stick to bluesky. People who had bigger twitter accounts have been focussing more on BS and deleting or hibernating their twitter. So I see the opposite of what you say.
Huh look at that. I guess you tell me why I still use jpeg xD Compatibility? Print?
I’m just old and use PNG only to preserve transparency in images
For me it’s simply routine. If I have pictures that I want in high quality without compression, I have tiff or raw, but jpeg is usually enough to save images without using much space and still having the colour profile embedded.
