I say this with no disrespect intended. With the electoral and first past the post system, voting 3rd party at the national level is like spitting into the ocean. No one will notice, and maybe that vote could have made a difference elsewhere. It sucks but until we eliminate the electoral and have RCV or STAR voting, we cannot support 3rd party candidates.
All that being said, I do think that it is worth voting 3rd party for lower office or if your vote really wouldn’t affect the outcome.
We haven’t even entered midterm season yet and we’re arguing about Newsom’s viability. The focus should be on midterms. We still have 2 years for a new star to shine, for a progressive to break through, for the DNC to maybe get a clue.
I’d rather hear discussions about who is best to face off against Collins, how can we take back some of the house seats where the margins are thinnest, where could we break in.
There will never be a perfect candidate for any office. You will always have issues you don’t align on. If you think you align on everything, you’re probably not looking closely enough. Vote for freedom, join the conversation and advocate for change. I have seen many politicians change their beliefs over the years, often their positions are uninformed and giving them the right information can help and assuming they know the facts helps no one.
We are all flawed. We have all made mistakes. We are all capable of change. Politicians are no less suited to making mistakes than we are.
Look at the robo taxi situation they have going. The same tech that is stopping people off in the middle of the road is what is being used for FSD.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out that the whole thing is a scam and there is some sweat shop full of teenagers remotely driving cars. I feel like the random stops where they shouldn’t stop is exactly how someone who learns how to drive playing GTA would drive.
I will not say that you are wrong, just encourage you to take a deeper look into your congressional rep and below in the midterms. People are pissed, it might not turn to votes but maybe things will shift. Hell, talk to people in your community who might be willing to vote with you on a third party.
