Officially, as declared by Congress.

I mean that after WWII, the public sentiment was “We’re done with war. Whew!” That’s exactly why officially declaring war and using the war powers workaround was used in ever example you gave.
It was the Department of War for 150 years before 1947 when Truman changed the name.

If Google, Meta, and MS tomorrow rolled out a social credit system that made the Chinese version look generous, 95+% of their users would not change a THING to avoid it. Maybe 98% of their users.

Same thing - amazing mesas and red rock plateaus and craggy mountains? See it every day. Meh. Crystal blue seas? I can’t stop starting and being amazed that something that color is real.
Though, I have noticed that very flat and forested places give me a sense of claustrophobia. When you’re used to being able to see 20-50 miles all the time, not being able to see anything more than 200 feet away is strange. It makes the world seem so small and trite.
There’s a reason why after WWII the Department of War was renamed Department of Defense.
We weren’t at war. We’re not currently at war, either. Chester’s gotta ask Congress to rubber-stamp a war first.

Does Reddit even have lawyers, or are they just using ChatGPT? Google, Meta, and Tik Tok already paid PII misuse fines for less than this. everything listed is part of the GDPR extended PII list.

Sorry, I mean just for the UK, US, and apparently China also.
Fortunately, the EU isn’t going down the same path, and has Estonia, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands as guides. And to just do this in the right order and do step 1: sensible digital ID system.
