  • It’s not a specific mental defect either. It’s just a sophistic appeal to plausible sounding psychology speak. Psychobabble.

Psychology experts feel the same way hearing “sociopath” as engineering experts feel hearing “quantum capacitor” or “chronometric transistor”. It’s like when a hacker on TV says they’ve decompiled the mainframe.

Some psychologists have been charitable and decided the pop culture understanding is close enough to ASPD that it might as well mean ASPD, and I think they’re wrong. If laypeople want to be understood they should use the correct words. Using the wrong words has serious consequences when we’re talking about mental health.

  • I actually hate any technology that steals the user’s first person pronouns. You are not Me, do not speak for Me. You may be My computer, but you are not allowed to call yourself “My Computer” as though you are Me.

Also if someone uses any first person neopronouns other than Mine, this thing is going to misgender them and I think that’s a serious concern.

  • I agree with your first paragraph, but I’ve heard from experts in the field that human trafficking is already illegal, criminalising sex work just scares the victim into silence.

A lot of sex slaves here in Australia are immigrants who agreed to an illegal and unethical deal in order to flee their home countries. So when the cops bust a trafficking ring, what do they do? Send the girls back home to the regime they fled. That’s not helping. The government should give them a visa and let them work here if they want.
