It can be both. I am certain that there isn’t one explanation for it. What i describe is the feedback loop. What you describe is the initial conditions. Combined they spell disaster.

This is why we have so much tribalism, polarization and extremism today too though. People find their information bubble, gets validated for the shit they say (i.e. emotional support), feel good about it so they post more and more extreme shit and validate (give emotional support) to others in the bubble.

Now you have an extremist movement. Getting emotional support/validation from strangers on the internet is not always a good thing. Even if it makes you feel less anxious. Some people should feel anxious about the things they think about.

It is so they can fantasize about being captured and used as a sex slave by the blond hot amazonians instead of plotting the ‘accidental’ death of their abusive commander who stole half of their wage and threatened to send them on a suicide mission if they complain. Or something like that.

Yeah the Arctic and North Atlantic are important to Europe without a doubt. No name change needed, just Europe taking more initiative, leadership and becoming more central in the organization.

Canada is a natural partner in the Arctic and North Atlantic. So is of course also the USA, but they cannot be trusted: (

That’s what I am thinking. NATO is a USA centered alliance for looking after US interests. European interest happened to coincide with theirs for a long time, but clearly the USA is growing increasingly disinterested. Europeans should probably take over most of it, make it a Europe centered alliance.

I guess he is afraid that European independent security will make NATO irrelevant and in turn make him irrelevant (and unemployed). Go suck Trump’s dick harder, we still cannot hear the slurping from across the Atlantic. He’s gone native on us.

Is this even for real? We are not doing it just for fun, it is a necessity forced on us by Trump using the USA security leverage against us to conquer territory.

What the fuck does he want us to do? Just roll over and do what Trump wants? On whose side is he? Because he is not on Europe’s side.

Decoupling will be gradual and take many years, unless things escalate and the EU decides to decouple without an alternative in place.

That would however be extremely costly and I think they want to avoid that.

The advantage of a sudden shift is of course that change will happen faster due to necessity. But as I mentioned, at a greatly increased cost.

The question is how long will Europe stand being humiliated by Trump every second day?

China is in no way an appropriate strategic, economic or military partner. Its is on the other side of the planet, it has only its own best interests in mind to make itself into a regional superpower that does EXACTLY what Trump and Putin does. Its economic system is the polar opposite of Europe, open and free market vs protectionist and state-controlled market). Militarily it is growing fast but is still highly regional with limited power projection (i.e. cannot help us).

Wanting to partner with China against US makes no sense, they are the primary financier of Russia with the deliberate intent on weakening Europe and distract us from competing with them globally. Not to mention that America isn’t our enemy, but Trump and his regime specifically, the vast (75%) majority of US is against the Greenland grab.

I don’t know about the rest or Europe, but in Sweden the building of wind power has grinded to a halt.

The reason: too low electricity prices.

Because all wind power plants produce lots of electricity at the same time when it is windy, the prices are pushed so low that no wind power producer can make a profit anymore. Thus nobody wants to expand or build new wind farms.

Infrastructure investments and (cheap) short term power storage is needed before wind power can expand more. Low electricity prices during ideal wind conditions are currently the bottleneck for wind power.
