I have this feeling that Michael Crichton, the author of Jurassic park, fucking hated the Stegosaurus. Every time it comes up in the book he shit talks it relentlessly for being stupid, clumsy, and wholly incapable of self preservation.

Which turns out to likely be entirely made up.
That’s the point! :) Crichton never got updated it seems. In retrospect, it’s kinda hard to believe they were dumber than cows or chickens. No large animal could survive being as dumb as they were made out.
