sorry for the bad quality, my phone is bad up close
I hit my pinky finger real bad while hammering a nail when I was a kid, it broke off some of the skin but when it grew back it kinda has a divit in it. Doesn’t hurt or cause issues in any way but it’s just kinda a interesting part about my body that’s unique and I probably wouldn’t fix if given the chance.
I’ve come to love these little inconstancies that shows that a body has been used for fun and living, scars with a story are really sweet.
When I was very young I stuck my index finger in fire, it burnt a chunk of it, so now I only have about half a fingerprint on that finger.
Have a weird nub of bone protruding from my lower jaw under the tongue. Like a little skin covered spike.
Oh, also have a “hair” (maybe more like a mole?) on each side of my abdomen that when agitated, I get a sharp pain on the inside of the corresponding elbow.

mandibular tori is what this is called. The Xray tech told me to ask my dentist about having it removed and the dentist said it’s a brutal procedure and recovery (literally shaving the bone down) so not to bother unless it’s causing issues.
Huh, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised it had a name :P
And yeah, I can’t imagine it to be a comfortable procedure. Sounds way worse than when I got my tonsils out.
Due to a knee surgery many years ago, I have one leg slightly longer than the other & have slightly off kilter walk. A completely unlikely scenario in which I’m stranded in the desert and must walk for help. I fear I may trek for what seems an eternity only to find myself coming full circle. Again most likely will not occur. But if so, I am prepared to account for leg length deficit.
This can result in issues with your vertebrae. At least it did for me. If you experience lumbar pain or weird lower body tingling, act sooner, not later.
I heard everyone does this as one leg is the main leg and thus stronger. Lefties turn to the right, righties to the left or so. So your knee would either even you out or shrink the circle.
I am relieved to know that I am not alone. That said, I need to complain about that old surgery from many years ago. I gotta say, despite all the hazards, the team of surgeons in ‘87 did some absolute bang up job & perhaps several miracles upon moi, yours truly. For this, I am forever grateful and always consider myself quite blessed to be walking slowly but with everyone.
Thats great to hear :) despite all the bad things humans do, some are good. Like saving one the ability to walk. I hope youll have many walkable years left.
What will you do if you overcompensate?
They’ll circle back to this question later
I have never met someone else who has tested it, so I don’t know if it’s common or not, but I can blow air out of my tear ducts. When underwater at the pool, it looks like two narrow streams of bubbles rising from the inside corners.
Your tear ducts (and everyone else’s as well) are connected to your nasal cavity. It’s where tears drain and partly why we get runny noses when our eyes are tearing up.
Definitely more unusual to be able to force air the other way, but not impossible. I’ll sometimes do it accidentally if blowing my nose too hard.
You can push liquid through them too. Makes it look like you are crying milk/blood/whatever.
I have decided that this is dating advice.
Neat!
Do you do it deliberately ?
I discovered it by trying to “pop” my ears under water, but since then exclusively deliberately.
Here I am trying to pop my ears and detect outgoing airflow. My wife looks at me suspiciously. I had to explain “so there’s a guy (?) on Lemmy…”
Everyone on the internet is a guy, chief. 😜
I pinch my nose and close my mouth and blow hard. First the ears push out and “pop”, then I feel pressure building up in one or the other tear duct, then a squeaking, wet sound as air escapes from one and then the other duct. My eyes need to be open for this to work.
Good luck!
I saw a drag queen use liquid eyeliner on her waterline (you’re not supposed to do that) and it came out her nose lol
My right pinky is severely bent at the topmost joint. It made learning the piano somewhat challenging, since the pinky sometimes “locks” itself if I try to extend my fingers too much. And if it does, I have to do a little wiggle movement to release it painlessly. If I try to force it, it makes a very loud snap and it hurts for a second.
Otherwise it has not affected my life in any way.
And I can make goose bumps / make my body hair rise up at will. It only lasts a few seconds every time, but it did make for a fun party trick when I was younger and a very hairy guy.
This is my left ring finger. None of my other fingers bend like that. 🤷🏻♂️

My big toes give a thumbs up. They are the reason why most shoes won’t fit. That, and that my feet are short but wide.
I can give thumb up too
Why does your foot look like a Monty Python illustration?
I don’t know, but thanks for the laugh
My pinky fingers are curved sideways towards my rong fingers. They’re like little banana fingers. They also don’t bend easily. Despite that I’m still a pretty decent clarinet player, but I always play the mid c# on the left instead of the right so I don’t have yo bend my pinky.
I have 5 spleens.
My left sinus cavity is slightly larger than my right one, but my right one has a smoother curve
WELL I guess that means I’m not that unique after all.
edit: Wait, “sinus cavity” does not mean “nostril.” Nevermind, slightly different.
The dent in my fucking head where a doctor saved my life I guess. That & the sensitive skin around it.
The pinky finger on my right hand has 4 lines instead of 3. No extra joint so it folds normally, there’s just an extra line.
My unbelievably large penis
That is correct. It is unbelievable. /s
We want to believe but are prepared to accept adequate enough as the most likely and probable scenario.

Prove it
I get it. Life is hard.
Is there a Lemmy equivalent of /r/BigDickProblems ?
Whenever life gets you down, has you wearing a frown, and the gravy train has left you behind
I can’t make my pinky and ring finger touch my other fingers on my left hand. It looks like I’m doing a bad Vulcan impression if I try. I can however make them touch if I bend my fingers. But if they are straight, they flex out to the side. I’ve tried for years to correct it but had no success.
Similarly, my brother can’t make a peace sign because having the pinky and ring finger down causes his middle finger to push forward and he has to physically prop it up to get it in line with his index finger.
I have that but with my right hand. It makes proper high-fiving difficult and people just assumed I was lying about not being able to close my fingers properly. It’s really validating to hear someone else with a similar issue.
That’s pretty interesting. A shorter-than-typical ligament or something, maybe.
I can deliberately crack my joints by clenching my fists.
Oh man, I can crack mine in so many ways except that. I need it!
depending on how old you are that’s either a really cool party trick or super lame 😅
I have a sizable birthmark on my back that grows thick hair (the surrounding skin does not).
Do you have a pilonidal cyst?
(I learned from last time I brought this up: if not, don’t Google it. It’s a gross body thing.)
From a quick google, no. The mark is halfway up my back. I have had this mark my whole life. It grew (even relative to my size) during childhood. It stopped growing when I did. I had it inspected multiple times. It is apparently benign. It started growing hair during puberty
I don’t mean to suggest that you do - I’m nowhere near knowledgeable enough to do so. However, from my inexpert knowledge, nothing you said contests the possibility.
Apparently a birthmark on your lumbar region can be indicative of a pilonidal cyst, not a problem itself. They’re genetic. The cyst happens (from my very limited knowledge based only on having experienced it) when your tailbone doesn’t close fully and hair on your buttcheeks grows across the gap, collecting in the resultant opening in your spine.
I hope you don’t have one! Mine was no fun to remove.
edit: I missed the first time reading your comment that you said it was halfway up your back. From my understanding that’s not common for the affliction I described. I apologize for making assumptions.
I did look up pictures, and I have experienced nothing like that. Thanks for the new fear, though! Cheers!
Happy to be of service!
In case of actual concern … If you had one, you would probably know. Mine was not subtle, at least.
