Or ‘What is PeerTube lacking that you simply cannot do without?’
I believe it’s a safe assumption that fediverse users want to move away from the monopolies and closed gardens so often associated with video streaming, and yet it’s not a task that’s ever been made easy. Maybe an ounce of inspiration is the cue we need, and so my question to you is; What’s Stopping you from using PeerTube?

I’ve tried PeerTube today, my main problem is how slow it is. For example, I try to go back 10 seconds in a video and it takes 20 seconds to load. Similar when searching for videos. I don’t know if it is because of the instance I picked, peertube.wtf . This is my main problem with it for now
It’s a self-sustaining problem, I suppose. My understanding is that PeerTube improves performance by distributing video streaming across instances that have frequently requested particular videos, and p2p streaming with concurrent viewers. Video streaming isn’t exactly an easy task on servers, and the solution requiring adoption doesn’t help.
Im a bit cynical on the p2p element. How many users are on mobile data where they want to limit data usage? Or how many are on cable internet which has limited upload bandwidth?
I know I struggle to stream movies outside of home from my jellyfin instance because my upload speed is so slow. I don’t see my contribution being all that great even in the best of times.
