You’re projecting competence on people who never meet the moment

They’re not going to fix healthcare in January. They’re not even going start a fight over it. By January, open enrollment will be over, and the fight will already be lost

If they had just waited until Thanksgiving, they could have gotten anything they wanted. There would have been consequences, and the blame would be squarely on Trump

Now? This was all for nothing. Maybe Republicans gave up some ground on the off cycle elections… But all of this was to force a negotiation

Then, days after getting a seat at the table, they immediately fold. Hell, reopening everything until January might have been the opening offer

I think that’s a really good point. Strong property rights is a better way to put it, I’m going to add that from now on

But the reason why I’m splitting hairs is because we’re at the point where they’re trying to privatize the FAA. In fact, they partially have under Trump 1, which is why the planes are breaking - we let airline companies inspect themselves

And it’s not because Republicans believe in capitalism

The problem we have isn’t some belief system, it’s just naked corruption

I think I’m making an important point here.

It’s really important that we stop pretending that these people believe their bullshit. The difference between liberals and the neo-liberals we have now isn’t more belief in capitalism, it’s that they’ve been bribed directly and indirectly

If you say they believe in capitalism, you’re giving ground. There’s an implication that they believe their actions will lead to better outcomes… But they so obviously don’t

Liberals don’t believe in capitalism… No one does. It’s descriptive, not prescriptive

Liberals believe in rules. That you can tweak the rules and eventually you’ll end up with a perfect system of government

Obviously that doesn’t work, but a true liberal is a midwit with good intentions. I’d take that all day right now

  • You’re also putting money in Google’s pocket… They’ve been caught doing things like this to cheese their metrics

Once a customer burns through their ad buy and sees they got a ton of clicks, they’re going to think “oh shit, this worked great”. Even under closer inspection, it looks like the ad worked, but that they’re failing to make the sales

So they’re probably going to buy more

This idea only works by helping inflate the advertising bubble, until it pops you’re just supporting ad services

  • Yes, but not spiritually

Teflon doesn’t react with basically anything. It won’t stick to anything but itself, which makes manufacturing difficult, initially we could only make pure Teflon pieces

Every other kind of PFAS is super toxic. Some part of the molecule is reactive, usually very reactive so it sticks to things, and the rest won’t react to anything. That causes nasty problems in biology

Teflon itself isn’t that much of a problem because even if it’s around forever, it doesn’t react with anything… The byproducts of working with it are what are poisoning people and causing all the problems

Anything coated in Teflon are going to have the nasty shit under the Teflon so I’d generally avoid it, but the real take away is that chemical companies are just dumping this shit into water sources knowing it causes super cancer

  • Kirk was a grifter, he didn’t believe in shit. Neither does his wife, who live tweeted her grieving process and immediately set her sights on JD Vance to move up in the world

He died to what he stood for - political violence

His kids don’t deserve any of this, but my compassion is busy with kids who are being held at gunpoint or missing meals
