There is a real difference in the type of hardware that gets used in an AI data centre; it’s not a trivial or pedantic distinction.

The starkest signal of the MAGAfication of Silicon Valley isn’t this fairly par-for-the-course spyware tech, but their public response.
A short couple of years ago they would have downplayed the whole thing and peppered a few apologies in, but these days the standard response is attack, attack, attack. Call the journalist a liar, call the journal failing, no need for evidence on either, just as long as you keep attacking.
That guy’s post history is so chock-full of awful bootlicker takes that it’s indistinguishable from an astroturf bot.

The phrasing of “Looking for treasure” makes it sound like it’s just lying there, possibly buried a kindly philanthropist.

You can get on a horse, or horse-drawn carriage, completely wasted drunk out of your mind, or high, or just too tired to drive. Tell horse “home” and he will go to the stable he came from, dragging you with it all the way.
Horses are statistically more dangerous than motorcycles (or skiing). I can’t find any statistics on drunk riding because most horse owners aren’t stupid enough to try it, but it seems very likely that riding a horse drunk is way more dangerous than driving drunk.

As soon as I saw “Florida” I thought, what’s their real angle?
If the settlement takes the form of a new data center being opened in Florida, please quote this post in the comments section of the news article announcing it.

We’ll fight the powers that be, just don’t pick our destiny
A big part of MAGA mythology is the notion that the country, even with Republicans in charge of all three branches, is actually run by a sinister cabal of deviants and assorted non-WASPs. “Fighting the powers that be” is what Trump is here to do for them.
'cause you don’t know us, you don’t belong
…not hard to find a MAGA reading for that line either.
yeah I mean that was one of the themes explored in the film

I’m not sure what you think an “example” would look like. It’s not taking a photo of you, it’s measuring what’s distinctive about the way you personally mess up radio signals and how it differs from how other people mess them up. Internally it’s just a ton of numbers.

This guy is the kind of cartoon villain that gets left out of the newer “dark” iterations of a franchise for being too fucking ridiculous

Blit, nobody says “Bet” any more, get with it frizzo

The important thing that often gets missed in stories like this, is that this apparently tiny harmless thing is actually a big deal, because it’s the canary in the coalmine that alerts you to how shoddy the entire structure is.

This is an extremely high quality list for spear-phishers, because it’s all gullible morons with highly visible levers.
I see the FUD is still alive to this day.
Who here remembers when Microsoft launched a full-on FUD obfuscation campaign to tell companies that if they used Linux, they wouldn’t ever own anything they made and would have to give it away for free?
I always thought so because a very reliable man in the pub told me it, but it turns out not to be the case.

Call me sexist but that guy has really girly handwriting

I mean ok, she’s definitely an awful woman and shouldn’t be doing this job, but judging an individual for their membership of a group that represents some statistical shift from the median is as close to textbook bigotry as you can get. You wouldn’t tolerate someone suggesting that women shouldn’t be allowed physical jobs because they’re statistically weaker.

It’s infuriating how successful the oil companies have been at turning solar vs oil into a fucking culture war.
Lucky that nobody said that, then.
